Only Favoring His Wife Chapter 3
While holding the phone in one hand and engaged in conversation, his facial expression appeared helpless, yet the corners of his mouth consistently maintained a smile. At first glance, the young man had an unremarkable face, but his kind eyes, brightened by his smile, attracted those around him, instilling a sense of comfort in observers.
"I'm here now, no need to worry. I'm not a child, so everything's fine," Ye Yunjin reassured the person on the other end of the call with a smile.
"Alright, Yunjin, just be careful when you head back alone. You've just finished helping me, and I was planning to thank you by taking you out for a few days. Why are you leaving so soon? Can't you stay a little longer?" Chu Yixi complained from the other end of the line.
"Oh," Chu Yixi suddenly exclaimed, "Is it because of that cold-hearted guy? Yunjin, from what I've heard, that aloof fellow isn't a good one. You shouldn't..."
"Okay, okay, YiXi, I truly apologize this time. When you come to city B in the future, I'll make it up to you and ensure we have a great time, alright?"
"A car is approaching, let's table this conversation for now. Goodbye," Ye Yunjin heard Chu Yixi mention that individual and promptly ended the call.
"Hey, wait, I'm not finished yet, YunJin..." Hearing the phone beep as it hung up, Chu Yixi in City Y frowned in dissatisfaction. Clearly, they needed to resolve the matter at hand swiftly to attend to Xiao Jin.
"Driver, please take me to Jingyang District, thank you!" Ye Yunjin requested after hailing a taxi.
Seated in the cab, Ye Yunjin check his phone once more. After a week passed without a call from the person, he grew familiar with this pattern of behavior but couldn't help but express his frustration with pursed lips.
Reflecting on what Chu Yixi had mentioned during their phone conversation, Ye Yunjin sighed ruefully and whispered to himself, "If I had the choice to leave that person, I wouldn't willingly agree to marry him. But alas, I can't bring myself to do it."

After twenty minutes, the bathroom door quietly unlocked, and Qin Mucheng emerged from the steam-filled environment. He was clad in a loose-fitting white bathrobe, its belt carelessly knotted. The robe's front gaped open, revealing a well-defined chest.
Tiny droplets of water trickled down his partially dried hair, tracing their way along the elegant curve of his neck before meandering toward his toned abdominal muscles, disappearing into the unseen depths. It's a truth universally acknowledged that when men exude sexiness, they can be just as alluring as women.
Yet, Qin Mucheng seemed blissfully unaware of the captivating image he portrayed—a strikingly handsome man fresh from a bath.
Approaching the bed, he accessed the closet and retrieved a set of gray long-sleeved shirt and trousers, laying them out neatly. With deft, precise movements, he unceremoniously shed the bathrobe and donned the waiting clothes.
Then, he descended the stairs, one step at a time. Downstairs, a spread of simple yet delectable dishes adorned the table, a sight that would make anyone's mouth water. However, Qin Mucheng didn't immediately pick up his chopsticks.
Seated in his chair, a frown creased his brow, and he suddenly inquired, "Uncle Su, where is he?"
Butler Su, positioned nearby, was taken aback upon hearing the second young master's use of the pronoun "he." His surprise didn't linger; instead, it deepened.
However, before he could make sense of it, Qin Mucheng spoke once more, "Has he eaten already?"
"Master, are you referring to Mr. Ye?" Steward Su asked hesitantly, seeking clarification.
An affirmative "um" escaped Qin Mucheng's lips, confirming Butler Su's initial understanding.
Finally assured that he had heard correctly, Butler Su pondered why the young master had suddenly brought up Mr. Ye. Could it be that the second young master had set aside past grievances and started to show concern for Mr. Ye? The possibility filled Steward Su with quiet jubilation.
This time, he didn't pause in bewilderment but swiftly responded to Qin Mucheng's inquiry, "Second Young Master, Mr. Ye departed for City Y a week ago due to some business matters. I did mention this to you previously, do you not recall?" Steward Su asked, somewhat suspicious.
At this moment, Qin Mucheng realized the impulsive nature of his concern for Ye Yunjin, especially without understanding the circumstances. Upon closer reflection, it appeared that he had returned shortly after their marriage, roughly about a month later.
Recalling that time, he vividly remembered his strong aversion to the notion of a "wife" who insisted on entering the Qin family, despite his identity as a man. Consequently, Qin Mucheng had maintained absolute silence and never engaged in any form of communication with Ye Yunjin from the moment they were wed in name and began living together.
The other party had been acutely aware of his disinterest and wisely refrained from appearing before him. As a result, Qin Mucheng had never given any thought to or taken any interest in Ye Yunjin's affairs, naturally forgetting this detail from his past life.
Contemplating this, Qin Mucheng suddenly sensed a twinge in his heart, as if it pained him slightly. Yet, he dismissed it, attributing it to guilt. With his thoughts reaching this juncture, he voiced his query once more, "Honestly, perhaps I didn't pay attention at the time. When is he expected to return?"
Despite his lingering confusion, Steward Su remained committed to responding to Qin Mucheng's inquiry.
"Mr. Ye got in touch with me today, informing me that he plans to return tonight. If you check the time, he should be arriving shortly!" After relaying this information, Butler Su couldn't suppress his hesitancy as he inquired once more, "Is there something specific the young master wishes to discuss with Mr. Ye?"
