Undefined You
I was in a cave when I removed the blindfold.
The surrounds are dark, there is poor vision, the air is cool, and the ground is cold and wet.
I grimly grinned, knowing that it would take some time for the corpse to decay in this chilly air.
I was raised in a small, isolated village that was quite religious. I accidentally ruined the village's god's altar because I was careless. The locals made the decision to exile me from the community out of fear of a curse. So that I wouldn't know how to get home, I was made to drag myself down a mountain trail while being pulled by a rope and wearing a blindfold.
I entered the chilly area after that, and after some time passed of walking, the rope was cut. I was instructed to keep the blindfold on until I had counted to a thousand, so I did so while holding my breath in the pitch-blackness. I removed the blindfold while shivering and finding myself in a cave where even my used-to-dark eyes were unable to see through the depths.
There isn't any food or water to eat, no matter how you look at it. Even the exit is hidden to me. Even my own side is unknown to me. This is probably saying that I'll rot in this place.
I closed my eyes and put my body on the chilly ground. I might freeze to death rather than starve to death at this rate. then it is best to act quickly. The body should become completely frozen once the clothing absorbs the moisture.
Oh, but it might not be extremely chilly. Although it is quite chilly within the cave, no ice or frozen areas are visible. These emotions might only persist longer.
Something was making a creeping sound.
I suddenly experienced goosebumps, and I quickly stood up. An bug, a snake, or a mosquito?
I narrowed my eyes in the direction of the sound while trying to control my painfully early heartbeat.
Something earthy is squirming and sneaking about. It appeared to be nothing more than a lump of mud and was moving while undergoing structural change.
"Hi..."
I screamed loudly and moved a little bit backwards because, as I had imagined, it was awful. The mud lump then ceased to move.
panting with tension as they stare at the thing. Don't ignore the situation. Because I believed that if I didn't deflect it, it may attack me.
Exists anything inside? It is what? Even if it was a dangerous animal, I don't have any defenses at the moment.
Oh, but.
I ought to have stopped trying. Whoever escapes this beast will die slowly. If that's the case, even if the beast can eat it whole. regardless of being poisoned. Isn't it preferable than gradually weakening?
I suddenly started to lose strength, and the pile of mud swayed a little as if it sensed. Reflexively, my entire body trembled, but I remained still.
The mud lump shook and then moved a little while we both peered at it (I wasn't sure if it had eyes). It sways once more and then begins to move a tiny bit as my eyes follow it. It continues to sway without moving as far as my eyes can perceive while it repeats that.
I mistakenly cried out to him after spotting that figure that seemed to appeal to something.
"...follow me, are you saying?"
The mud mound grew, appearing to respond.
I gulped down my spit and got to my feet. I'll just waste away if I stay here like this. Then learning who that unusual creature is wouldn't be a bad idea.
I followed the slow-moving pile of muck with caution.
"... it's a field of water."
Where the mud clumps led us, there were fractures in the wall where water was dripping. It was fresh water when I gingerly put it in my mouth. I believe I can manage to drink it.
I took a quick look at the mud mound. Given that it merely keeps swaying, I have no idea what it is thinking. However, it makes no difference to the fact that you brought me here.
Saying "thank you"
I said "thanks" to the mud blob. Then it continued to quake. What will happen? I'm curious.
Hey, I just wanted to know if you knew where I could get some food. Grass or a fruit of some sort? A bit warmer environment would also be beneficial.
The mud lump stopped moving as though it were contemplating when I asked that. The lump of muck produced a bouncing motion, and just as I thought I had spoken something unreasonable, it vanished from the scene.
"eh!?"
I gasped in shock at the quick disappearance of the muck mound and waved it off in wonder. I'm curious what it was.
I have no idea why, but at least I was successful in getting access to water. But it doesn't matter what occurs after that.
I rested my head against the wall and closed my eyes while I listened to the sound of water running.
How long ago was that? When I heard something slurp, I looked in the direction of it. This noise could be that lump of muck coming back. It seems a little weighty to me.
When I turned around, I saw that the mudslide was pulling something. It was a fox as I went closer and looked more closely.
"Hi!?"
The fox itself is occasionally killed by hunters, but when I recklessly pulled it, I couldn't help but scream.
The fox's carcass was in front of me thanks to the pile of mud.
"Huh? Um..."
They most likely hunted me because I requested food. I didn't know why the mass of muck was moving in the first place; I just wondered how.I'll take it cheerfully if it's a village. The fox's fur protects against the cold, and its meat can be eaten. Yet, .
I currently only have one body, and I don't have a knife, so I can't take it apart. Furthermore, you cannot make flesh edible since you cannot create fire.
“…I'm grateful.
The pile of muck appeared to go numb when I informed him of this.
But it's warm, I see. If I can use it today, I wonder.
The mud lump shook when I grinned smugly and said that.
I'm actually grateful that I can warm up. Since my internal organs are still functioning, I don't know what will happen after tomorrow, but at least for today, I can keep warm with this fur for a little bit.
My eyelids drooped as I leaned against it; it was still warm.
I'm exhausted and have a lot of stuff to do today.
merely a little. Let's get some rest right now.
The blackness engulfed consciousness.
When I became conscious, I raised my upper body like a sled. You have no idea what time it is or how long you've been asleep when you're in a cave with no view of the outside world. My shoulder jumped at the earth-colored thing when I turned to glance around. That muddy mass. Did you stay by my side while I slept?
"...do you live here?"
The mudslide didn't move despite my request; it merely swayed. Being unable to understand the language is annoying.
We could speak if you were the same size as I am.
He seems to grasp language, therefore if he had a speech organ, he may have engaged in conversation. I figured as much and poured it, but the mud ball gently shifted, seemingly contemplating.
The tremors gradually grew stronger and the waves grew farther apart as I pondered what was happening.
"yes!?"
I sat down and stared up at the mud crawling across the ground. It became mushy and distorted.
"...!?"
I'm surprised that I am speechless. It cocked his head as it exhaled solely his air.
It is "the same shape"
I felt as though I were dreaming. I am in your front. It resembles each other exactly. She is wearing the exact same white dress.
"You... can you change the way you look?"
"did it"
"Yeah. Done."

Was it conceivable from the start or is it conceivable right now? I'm not sure exactly what happened, but it appeared that the mud could assume the form of a person.
That principle is not what we should be considering right now. if you're able to talk to someone.
Hey, you may walk outdoors now that you brought the fox, right? Could you direct me outside?
Would you like to visit that place?
"Yes. I want to leave this cavern.
"What went on?"
"The creatures haven't shown up for a very long time. Going out alone is lonely.
lonely. As I heard the unexpected words, I rolled my eyes. This mound of mud has a lonely sense to it. Thus, it treated me well. Please stick by my side.
"...Come on together?"
My idea caused her eyes to widen.
"It's not like you can only live in this cave if you can go outside. You won't be alone if you come with me.
I made contact with her. The odd monster ceased to be frightful.
It saves my life. If I can somehow pay you back.I puzzled over her hand, pecked her palm a few times with a terrified expression, and then folded it tenderly.
The face, loosely smiling, caused me to feel conflicted. She does, after all, resemble me. Looking at her own face so objectively is a little embarrassing.
"Why can't you transform that form into another human?"
She cocked her head, and I went on to tell her why.
"Look, you never know who you could run across if you go outside. Two people will be shocked if they are precisely the same. Ah, but if It understood the language, it would make things simpler.
She pauses to consider what I've said before changing shape.
Losing one's shape is dangerous for the heart. She softly turned her gaze away.
"did it"She had transformed when I glanced at her because of the low voice.
Short hair and piercing eyes. Her muscular body wore basic armor. Is that a soldier's or a vigilante's uniform?
The question "Wh-why is that?"
Maybe because she took my shape first, I asked without thinking because I assumed she was a female body. He cocked his head in an odd way for his size.
The best is this. Hey, it's dangerous outside.
I see. Oh, oh. That's correct.
I rubbed my chest because I felt relieved for some reason. Without a doubt, it would be simpler to navigate mountain routes and cope with animals and criminals than a female body. One male will be more effective at preventing danger than two women. I went up to him and introduced myself.
"Miriam, that's me. Have you have a name?
I may be able to tell whether a person is a guy or a woman if I hear their name. I'm not even sure that the concept of gender even exists. He scowled when I asked as I had assumed.
"No. I've never received a call.
I lowered my eyebrows as well since the voice seemed lonesome. Although it may not have a name in the natural world, I assumed that it truly wanted to have one based on the fact that it has never had one.
"Can I name You, then?
He nodded widely and his face brightened up.
"Yeah. So River?
I apologize for being so simple, but you showed me where the water was first. It had to be a name I could use to address him regardless of whether he assumed the body of a man or woman because I couldn't determine if he was him or her.
"River..."
He dropped the corners of his eyes and murmured gently.
He smiled and extended his large hand to me while examining it.
"Come on, Miria."
He is imitating my behavior. I got up and grabbed his hand.
"River, it's nice to meet you."
Just be not alone. I had lost track of desperation.
