Only Favoring His Wife Chapter 8

Whether explicitly or implicitly, Mucheng declined to respond when asked to bring Ye Yunjin along. So now that they were together, could it mean her son had finally seen the light?

With this thought in mind, Bai Yiyan swiftly left her son behind and approached Ye Yunjin. She hurriedly grasped his hand and greeted him with a smile, "Yunjin, you're here too! How have you been lately? Has Mucheng been treating you well? You seem thinner than the last time I saw you at the banquet. Have you been eating less?" Ye Yunjin had anticipated a cold reception from the Qin family during his visit to their residence this time.

However, he never anticipated that not only would he not encounter the anticipated chilly reception, but he would also be met with genuine concern from Qin Mucheng's mother, a gesture that flattered him.

Ye Yunjin swiftly waved his hand with the other and responded, "No, Auntie, I'm perfectly fine. Thank you for your care!"

Observing Ye Yunjin's reaction, Bai Yiyan burst into laughter this time, covering her mouth before saying, "That's great to hear. By the way, I've just finished preparing a meal. Both you and Mucheng can join us in the dining room. Oh, and why do you still call me 'aunt'? Just call me 'mom'!"

This time, Ye Yunjin was genuinely taken aback and turned to glance at Qin Mucheng, but it appeared that Qin Mucheng was oblivious to Ye Yunjin's unease.

His expression remained inscrutable, showing no apparent objection to Bai Yiyan's suggestion for Ye Yunjin to change the way he addressed her.

Qin Mucheng's response left Ye Yunjin perplexed; he wasn't sure whether to call out, but before he could decide, Bai Yiyan couldn't wait any longer. Her demeanor shifted to one of sorrow, and she murmured softly, "If Yunjin is unwilling, then I've been too hasty. I shouldn't have pressured you."

"No, no, I'm willing, truly!" Ye Yunjin reassured Bai Yiyan eagerly, spurred on by Qin Mucheng's mother's words.

"In that case, don't call me 'auntie' anymore. You look quite slender. After that long drive, you must be hungry. Come and join us for a meal!"

"Alright, thank you... Mom!" Ye Yunjin responded with a hint of shyness.

"Great, then let's go have dinner together, Mucheng," Bai Yiyan exclaimed, prompting them to head for the dining table.Bai Yiyan wore a delighted smile as she led both of them into the dining hall. Upon entering, Ye Yunjin's anxiety escalated further. The presence of Qin Mucheng's relatives at the dining tables sent waves of unease through him.

With a stiff expression, he greeted Qin Mucheng's grandfather, "Hello, Grandpa!"

Grandpa Qin, on the other hand, was delighted, even rising from his seat and approaching Ye Yunjin. "Yun Jin is here too, along with Mucheng? Hahaha, I've eagerly anticipated this day. Well done, well done!"

Witnessing the highly esteemed patriarch of the Qin family speaking kindly to him left Ye Yunjin in a state of astonishment.Even though his entry into the Qin household hinged on Grandpa Qin's approval, he hadn't anticipated that Mr. Qin's reception would be this welcoming. Before he could fully process this, Qin Mucheng's father chimed in, "Dad, please have a seat. If there's anything to discuss, we can do it after dinner. Yun Jin and Mucheng, please join us at the table. It's a rare occasion to have you two together!"

While Father Qin maintained a serious expression, his words were delivered with a warm smile. This gesture managed to ease some of the tension in Ye Yunjin's heart, prompting him to follow the others and take a seat.

Seated at the dining table, Ye Yunjin cautiously picked up his chopsticks and began to eat with his head slightly lowered.

Throughout the meal, Ye Yunjin barely touched his food, only using his chopsticks for the dishes directly in front of him. Observing this, Qin Mucheng, who had been relatively quiet until then, suddenly selected a piece of steamed red meat with his own chopsticks and placed it in Ye Yunjin's bowl.

When their gazes met, Qin Mucheng casually remarked, "Eat more!" before turning his attention back to his meal. If you listened closely, his voice seemed somewhat strained.

The surprising act left not only Ye Yunjin but also Mr. Qin, Father Qin, and Mother Qin astonished. The eyes of Qin's parents met, silently conveying their unspoken thoughts.Their disbelief in their son's actions was palpable.

Upon witnessing this scene, Grandpa Qin was initially taken aback, but he quickly broke into joyful laughter. While chuckling, he remarked, "Yes! Eating well is the key to good health!"

Ye Yunjin, who had been in a state of shock a moment ago, snapped back to reality upon hearing Mr. Qin's words. However, he didn't reply to Mr. Qin's statement. Instead, he offered a shy smile and then cast his gaze downward, clearly feeling somewhat embarrassed by the situation.

As Qin Mucheng turned to see Ye Yunjin with flushed ears and the lowered head, an unexpected thought crossed his mind—a desire to...take a bite! This realization startled him, causing him to feel deeply unsettled by his own thoughts. The typically stoic individual found himself frowning involuntarily.

When Ye Yunjin finally ceased averting his gaze and lifted his head, his was secretly looking at Qin Mucheng's face. Although he had previously felt a hidden joy over Qin Mucheng's earlier gesture, his current mood seemed to have been abruptly dampened, as if a cold splash of water had quelled his inner warmth.
